9. Central BBQ – Memphis, TN
If you want to feel environmentally friendly while chowing down on some delicious food, then this is the place. Project Green Fork certified, Central BBQ is committed to being environmentally friendly. They’re also committed to making some darn good barbecue. Tip: try the barbecue nachos.
8. Hard Eight BBQ – Coppell, TX
About half an hour from the city of Dallas lies this tasty barbecue outpost. If you’re headed this way, stop in for some pork ribs, their just-sweet-enough barbecue sauce or even their brush poppers, a sure crowd pleaser of turkey bites wrapped in bacon, onion and jalapeños then smoked on an open grill. Yum!
7. Joe’s Real BBQ – Gilbert, AZ
Joe’s provides exactly what they claim: some real good barbecue, especially their pulled pork sandwiches. And don’t forget to stop by on your birthday. Show them your ID and you’ll receive a free birthday meal including a sandwich, side, lemon cake and drink.
6. Slows Bar BQ – Detroit, MI
A barbecue joint with terrific vegetarian options? We know this is a list of the best BBQ, and Slows Bar BQ definitely has that, but it’s also a place where you’re able to bring along your vegetarian friend. You can even share their amazing mac ‘n’ cheese! Tip: Order The Reason.
5. Rippy’s BBQ – Nashville, TN
Rippy’s is a fusion sports bar and barbecue joint, with live music and an upstairs patio. Take advantage of it on one of these hot Nashville days and dine outside on some great barbecue, or come at night for a cool drink and live music.
4. Fox Bros Bar-B-Q – Atlanta, GA
What’s not to like at this Atlanta favorite? Try the pulled pork plate, southern classic fried okra, chicken wings, or even the frito pie if you’re brave enough. Everything at Fox Bros Bar-B-Q is the best of the best. Take note though, the portions are huge, so you may leave a pants size, or two, larger.
3. Phil’s BBQ – San Diego, CA
Looking for the best rack of baby back ribs around? Look no further. If you plan on dining in, watch out for the lines; word seems to have gotten around about their amazing food. If you order takeout, however, you’ll get your food much faster. Also, avoid white clothing; their barbecue’s so great that it’s bound to get messy.
2. Oklahoma Joe’s BBQ & Catering – Kansas City, KS
Joe may be from Oklahoma, but this favorite is straight from Kansas and will cater their heavenly dishes to any event. Try the fries and the Z-Man, a sandwich of brisket and smoked provolone topped with a couple onion rings. Be on the lookout for Oklahoma Joe’s; it’s easy to miss, as it’s inside a gas station!

1. Stubb’s Bar-B-Q – Austin, TX
This place is much more than just a barbecue joint: its home to some of the best ribs you’ll find anywhere and a concert stage that has seen the likes of BB King and Johnny Cash. So get there early for the show (they actually start on time) and join the many admirers of Stubb’s true Texas barbecue sauce and music.
